Read: Karma and other stories by Rishi Reddi

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

It is very hard to finish a book these days. I usually go for guide books, compendiums, books with step by steps, to name a few. However, whenever I am up for a good read, I’d pick up books from inspiring authors like Paulo Coelho; especially when I am seeking for an inward soul adventure. I also have a thing for children’s books, graphic novels and such; those with very nice illustrations. All in all, I love to read. It takes me to a place in my heart which no words can describe. When I came across this book in my office library (which is rare), I was awed! Well, one, because I never thought I would actually come across a novel in our library, it is usually filled with art and design books. Two, the content in page 1 itself amazed me. I was immediately hooked to it. Now that doesn’t happen very often to me.

In Karma and other stories, Rishi Reddi tells stories based on traditional Indian cultures and beliefs and how characters in her stories, both young and old, struggle with balancing the social system of their own religion and culture, and modern era. Her stories are touching, endearing, and you will be able to learn how each character journeys in their own self-inquiry experience, and how some of them, questioned their rights and social status as individuals.

All in all, it is a very beautiful book. If you are in for a soul empowering treat, grab this book. I am not sure if it is still on sale in bookstores (especially in local bookstores), but I am pretty sure you can get one online on Amazon bookstore.
