I'm sure you have heard of the term 'Monday Blues' or better yet, I have heard people around me using the term Monday Blues on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and sometimes, yes even Fridays!

I am not a morning person myself, but as a writer, I would like to motivate myself with a song or two while I am getting ready, or a book (currently reading Paulo Coelho's Brida) on my way to work; it is my breakfast for inspiration to write.

So, my suggestion; listen to good ol' Johnny Nash's song 'Bright Sunshiny Day'.

It's a popular song and I'm pretty sure you know this little number:
I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me down
It's gonna be a bright bright bright bright sun shiny day
It's gonna be a bright bright bright bright sun shiny day

Oh yes I can make it now the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is that rainbow I've been praying for
It's gonna be a bright bright bright bright sun shiny day

Look all around there's nothing but blue skies
Look straight ahead there's nothing but blue skies

I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Here is that rainbow I've been praying for
It's gonna be a bright bright bright bright sun shiny day

If you are from the early 90's era, and you grew once with bands like Cake, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Fastball, etc. I think this is the place for you to listen to it online under the category Classic Alternative. There's even an app for it and it is also on iTunes. So, now you can listen to it while you paint or craft, great for work! Cos i am writing while listening to it.

Upcycle Bi-Fold Doors and Broken Mirror Screen

Thursday, August 9, 2012
by Connie Steinberg

My neighbor gave me a set of bi fold doors.  I had the pieces of a mirror I had broken some time earlier.  So, I went to Home Depot and bought a small container of mystic  used  to lay tiles.

I had to figure out how I was going to lay out the pieces of broken mirror.  Once I did that and made myself a diagram,  I was ready to start.

I covered small sections of the door with the mastic and placed the mirror pieces.  After I completely covered the door with mastic and mirror pieces, I had to let it dry thoroughly.   It takes about 24 hours for each layer. I then put another layer on to level out the areas around the mirror pieces.  Along with making it level , it also covered the sharp edges of the mirror pieces.

You can make this last layer smooth or swirl it into a design.  At this point the doors are white.  It is possible to paint this( or I guess you could add color before it was applied). Because the surface of my doors were not smooth, when I painted it, it took on the look of dry brushing.  This was fine for my decor.

If you were doing this for a bath or vacation home, you could include shells or other items among the pieces of mirror.  You could also use mirror tiles for a more all over coverage.  Some mirror tiles are adhesive but I think it works well to use the mastic to fill in and cover the whole door so the look is uniform in case you don't want to cover the whole door with mirrors.
