Mini cake with Home made Self hardening clay recipe
I made this miniature cake for a good friend of mine using a home-made self hardening clay recipe. When I was researching for various clay recipes, I realized that they key to it is to experiment with it first because not all recipes suits each and everyone of us. After much trial and error, I have finally found my own recipe. Have fun!

Home Made Self Hardening Clay Ingredients:
4 cups of flour
1 ½ cups of salt
1 ½ cups of water

Other materials:
Acrylic paint
Brush
Scissors
Rolling pin
Wooden board / cardboard
Artboard
Glue
Varnish
Other embellishments

1. Mix the salt and flour in a bowl
2. Add water and gradually form to a ball
3. Knead, pound, roll, pull until it no longer falls apart
4. Do you project and allow it to dry at room temperature for approximately 2 days
(or more for larger or thinker projects)
5. Paint (after drying)
6. Store any unused clay in a sealed bag in the fridge or air tight. Allow it to warm to room temperature before you use it again

Make it
1) I knead the clay, and roll it into a ball. I estimate the size, and flatten it.

2) I use a toilet roll as a cutter. Cut it until you see a doughnut. Remove the doughnut (the outer part with the hole)

3) Take another small bit of clay, flatten it and shape it how you want to add things like cream on the cake, decorations, initials, etc.

4) Best to glue them with a strong adhesive glue like super glue (or any other brand) when you want add additional decorations on it, be it by clay or sequins, etc.

5) Paint it thickly with acrylic. Once it is dried up, varnish it with at least 3 layers.

6) If you are making a cake or pastry, you might want to use a firm hard cardboard as a platter, or plate.

7) For the miniature cake tray, use an art board (like in the picture) and cut a circle with a size that is just nice for your cake. You can decorate it anyway you like.

Instead of making miniature cakes, try using this recipe for other purpose like making accessories.
